Available since today: the new “Düsseldorf” MarketPress theme! Inspired by Nick Jantschke‘s design study for the WordPress backend and created by Inpsyde developer Christian Brückner, Düsseldorf continues the series of city themes in MarketPress and offers you modern presentation of your web content and products.
With Düsseldorf, MarketPress offers you another theme you can use “out of the box” with WooCommerce and WooCommerce German Market for a legally safe online shop. Visually and functionally, Düsseldorf supports the core features of the popular shop plugin and automatically puts the products in the right perspective.
Of course, you can also use Düsseldorf as a pure blog theme or to create a classic, page-based website. Care for a demonstration?
Design and Typography
Stylistically, Düsseldorf has a clear profile: modern, responsive flat design with sharp contrasts. The standard font is the Google fonts embedded Bitter, a contemporary slap serif from Argentinian type foundry Huerta Tipografica.
The font was specially developed for reading on screens of different devices and combines generous x-height and readability of classic typefaces with subtle personal characteristics like the low variation of the stroke width that create a special rhythm and the impression of intense colorfulness in continuous text.
Responsive web design – a website’s ability to dynamically adapt to different screen sizes – should by now be an obligatory criterion for all theme developers. Following the cool and elegant example of its namesake, our theme confidently sets a course in the direction of mobile apps – e.g. with modern off canvas layout featuring a sidebar that slides onto the screen “at the push of a button”.

Shop with WooCommerce
Running a legally compliant online shop in Germany is not easy. Our WooCommerce German Market plugin adds important features to the popular WooCommerce for WordPress, so you can forget all legal worries about your shop.
As a WordPress theme, Düsseldorf determines the visual presentation of your website, and provides all necessary visual styles and template features to automatically and correctly display the content controlled by WooCommerce.
Did you know?
With a market share of 13 %, WooCommerce is the most commonly used shop system on the internet.
For fast configuration, the theme offers some options in the WordPress customizer, most notably the fields for different social channels, including Twitter, Google+ and Facebook as well as Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, GitHub and Xing.
Düsseldorf also offers you an elaborately documented developer API, whose interfaces allow you to add your own features and customizations, e.g. via a child theme.
Considering the number of available add-ons for the popular WooCommerce plugin and the changes of HTML output in the theme often needed when using several plugins, the solid API is an important feature for the sustainability of your online shop.
License and Download
From the purchase date your theme license, you get 12 months of free updates and premium support in the MarketPress help desk. The license can be extended for a discount price before it expires and is not limited to a certain number of domains. Use the Düsseldorf theme with as many domains and websites as you want!
- What do you like most about our new Düsseldorf theme?
